Recently, a sales rep who called us about carrying products made with our local Mino Washi turned out to be my senior from high school.
During our meeting, we reminisced about the shops in Mino we used to visit as students. Some are gone now, but the memories were wonderful to share.

A corporate client visited—how partnerships amplify ties between Mino Washi and Mino City

Just before summer began…
“We’re looking for a Gifu-themed novelty gift suitable for our tournament.”
That inquiry was the start of our relationship with a corporate client in the travel & events market.
They selected items from our Mino Washi crafts, we added the tournament name to the label, and delivered them as OEM products—perfect souvenirs for visitors from inside and outside the prefecture. Co-creating the product line together was truly enjoyable.
When we greeted them at delivery, our client—also a former school principal—kindly advised us, from an educator’s perspective, on how to attract more local children to our “Mino Washi Craft Experience Shop.” His warm, thoughtful ideas really stayed with me.
About a month and a half later…
He returned with his wife. Looking through photos from the tournament, we happily swapped stories. She asked many questions about Mino City and Mino Washi; sharing what I’ve learned through work made her very happy.
The couple loves the TV show “Mito Kōmon,” especially the episodes showcasing local industries. They showed deep interest in the history of Mino Washi and Mino City, and encouraged us: “It’s wonderful to carry on such a proud tradition in your work.”
They plan to visit again during the “Akari Art” season.
On autumn nights, Mino transforms into a warm, dreamlike world lit by washi lantern art.

Mino Washi is a cultural treasure of Mino City and is recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Founded 123 years ago, Ishikawa Paper Goods is launching a special initiative to share the tradition and beauty of Mino Washi with travelers from around the world—so more international visitors and Japan group tours can discover, experience, and enjoy authentic Japanese culture.
The project name is…
“Did YOU come to Ishikawa Paper Goods for Washi?” Campaign!
Our shop stands right in the heart of the historic Udatsu-lined streets of Mino. Housed in a building dating to 1760—an officially designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings—our renovated Edo-period space welcomes inbound travelers, FITs, and group tour guests alike.
Inside the shop we’ve set up world and Japan maps. Visitors place a sticker on their place of origin.
As the stickers multiply, you can instantly see how far our Mino Washi hands-on workshops have spread across the travel world. Watching the maps fill with color excites both our staff and our guests—great for cultural exchange and educational travel.

◆ JAXA’s SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) becomes a roly-poly “Washi Korokoro” doll!
Our Washi Korokoro is an auspicious “fall down seven times, stand up eight” good-luck charm that pops back up no matter how many times it tips over.
We were asked to portray SLIM’s lunar landing as a roly-poly figure—and we brought it to life with Mino Washi craft^^
By realizing SLIM, humanity shifts qualitatively from “landing where it’s easy to land” to “landing exactly where we want to land.”
Future solar-system science missions will require higher-performance instruments. To prepare for that, spacecraft systems must be lighter so more resources can be devoted to payloads—lightweighting is essential.
SLIM aims to achieve pinpoint landing technology and a compact, lightweight probe system, contributing to future lunar and planetary exploration.

Lantern artworks crafted with Mino Washi—paper with a 1,300-year heritage—line the streets, transforming the entire town into a dreamlike stage. Mayu “Mino” Diary — my daughter is currently typing while getting a gentle lecture from Mom!

Lately my daughter has been practicing with a typing app.
Her fingers are moving more smoothly bit by bit, and she seems really pleased.
One day while she was studying, I was brainstorming topics for our company blog beside her,
when she suddenly exclaimed, “Mom, your typing is too fast!”
Some colleagues type faster than I do, so I never thought I was especially quick—but to my daughter, Mom still seems “legendary.” (lol)
“Rather than reading text on the screen and then typing,
it’s faster to type exactly what pops into your head,” I told her.
Here’s what she started typing:
I am studying.
It’s a pain.
Studying makes me sleepy.
↑ That was a lie.
Mom is lecturing me. She still is now.
(Brush your teeth. Studying is about remembering.)
This is serious. Right now, Mom is giggling.
I guess I’ll just have to put up with her.
I couldn’t help bursting out laughing (lol).
It’s true—I’m a bit naggy next to her (lol).
But I adore how she laughs and takes it all in stride.
