A Word from the Editor – Yamashita’s Corner
Greetings—this is Yamashita, your newsletter editor.
One of my hobbies is chirimen crafting. Cutting chirimen into squares and folding creates tiny 1 cm petals; depending on the combination each flower looks completely different.
I love mixing Japanese and Western styles, so I kept crafting with various fabrics until my room overflowed with cloth!
Now the stash sleeps in my closet—almost rivaling a kimono collection.
My favorite is a camellia made from denim; its round shape matches casual outfits perfectly.
If you spot someone wearing it in town, that’s surely me.
The only drawback is denim’s stiffness—hard to fold and puff up nicely.
Being thrifty, I recycled old jeans; now scraps pile up. When will this drawer of fabric ever empty…?

～山下の山～ お世話になります。メルマガ担当の山下です。
山下の趣味の一つなのですが、演劇を見ることが好きでして。高校演劇をしていた事もあり、演技や演出、ネタや舞台装置などなど。見どころがいっぱいなのが好みです。高校の頃は、とんかんとんかん教室の装置を作っては、机を拝借しては漆黒に染め上げる日々を過ごしてました。当時、練習は体育館を他の運動部と半分ずつ。スパイクに負けない声量を出すのが、大声シーンでのポイントです。特に面白かったエピソードとしては、山下と他部員とで殴り合いありの喧嘩シーンをしていた時のことです。その日は、羽交い絞めにされて喧嘩を止められるまでがワンシーンとなっておりました。本来であれば、殴った真似をするのが通常なのですが、それが遠くから見ると本気で殴って見えるようなのですよ。不思議ですね。監督のカットの声に喧嘩相手と肩を組み、笑う我らが演劇部。それに対して、演技の喧嘩に驚いて練習をストップするお隣さんのバレー部員達。慌てて訂正する演劇部の動きは文化部とは思えない光の速さでした。それからそれから、中部大会にも出たことあるって伝えなきゃ。エッホエッホ。そんなこんなで大人になってからも、台本を書いてみたり朗読劇にも参加してみたり。人生ってどんなところに繋がるかわからないから面白いですね。

以前こちらのメルマガでご紹介させていただきました、永昌院の夜桜のイベント！娘と一緒にいってきました♪煌々とライトアップされた見事な八重桜満開の桜の木の下には、歴代の明かりアートの受賞作品が並べられ、暗い山の中、この桜のある空間だけが明るく照らされています。私と娘にとっては、慣れ親しんだ地元のイベント♪ 娘はすぐにお友達を見つけ、普段は遊べない夜の時間帯を満喫♪ 花より団子ではなく、お友達と遊びまくる♪ だるまさんがころんだや、鬼ごっこなどをして、ライトアップされている桜並木の中をかけまわります^^ 私は、出店の美味しいフランクフルトや、甘酒をいただきながら、地元中学校の吹奏楽部の子たちの生演奏や、地元のピアノ教室の先生がボーカルのバンド演奏、美濃市の山奥に移住をしてきた家族と仲間たちが演じるお墓を背景とした狂言作品を眺め、友達と話したりして、ホッと一息つける時間を過ごしてきました^^ 毎年行われるこの時期だけの【夜の特別な空間】をぜひ皆様も体験ください^^

お世話になります。
メルマガ担当の山下です。
山下の趣味の一つなのですが、ちりめん細工にハマっていた時期がありまして。
ちりめんを四角に切ってたたむと１ｃｍ程度の花弁が完成。組み合わせによっては、全く違う印象を感じます。
和洋折衷が好きな山下は色んな布でちまちま作っては、あっという間に部屋が布だらけ。
いつか使うと溜まっていき、今ではクローゼットに眠っております。布量で比べるなら着物と良い勝負。
お気に入りは、ジーンズ生地で作った椿ですね。コロンとしていて、私服につけてもよく馴染んでくれます。
町で付けている人間がいれば、それは間違いなく山下です。
欠点とするなら、ジーンズ生地の固さ。折りにくく、ふっくらとした表現が中々に難しい。
薄い生地で作ればいいものをケチな山下は履かなくなった（履けなくなった）ジーンズズボンでつくるものですから、端切れがこんもり。
やれやれ、この引き出しからあふれそうな布はいつ無くなるのやら…。
