A quick note from the person in charge — “Yamashita’s Mountain”
Thank you as always. I’m Yamashita, in charge of this newsletter.
Recently, one of my friends suddenly got into beauty and self-care. The other day, while buying cosmetics, I tagged along to a free hair-styling workshop.
When I checked their “self-improvement schedule,” I noticed (very sneakily) that a Samoyed dog cafe in Nagoya was included.
My friend had been saying they wanted to go forever, but… is that really “beauty-related”? I was curious, so I asked.
“It’s good for the beauty of the heart, so we’re going.”
“Understood.”
Fair enough—because it was winter fur season, it really was soothing. I (Yamashita) was excited as we entered. Even though the dog was just about one year old, it was almost adult-sized. (And it still looks like it will grow more.)
We were very satisfied with 50 minutes of unlimited fluffing and cuddling. If you love fluffy dogs, I recommend making a reservation. During December they also hold a “general election,” so find your favorite!
And then—the main purpose: the hair-styling lesson. While my friend struggled, I (Yamashita) breezed through it. Being able to try oils and balms I’d never used before was really fun.
If you don’t usually style your hair, it’s hard to get the hang of it. My friend has thick, silky hair that doesn’t hold curls easily.
Ah, you need more oil.
Don’t try to tie it all up.
One hairpin won’t be enough, you know.
Those small hands of yours can’t handle it all—do a half-up style instead.
I held back those comments and simply watched warmly, hoping my friend would learn from the experience…
But when I stepped away for just a moment and came back, I found three assistants helping my friend together.
What happened in those three minutes?
When I asked, my friend had apparently waved the white flag and decided to have them do it. Well—it was a one-hour course, so I’m sure they wanted to finish within the time.
Later, my friend shared the results of their practice via LINE. It turned out really nicely—properly well-finished.
Next time, I want them to challenge a braided style.
