Ishikawa Paper Goods Ltd. was founded in 1902 (Meiji 35) in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, a renowned production area of Mino Washi. Our Mino Washi paper goods and Japanese craft gifts are manufactured, wholesaled, and distributed through our in-house craftsmanship philosophy of “Washi-ya no Te-shigoto” (handcrafted by a washi maker). We bring entertainment into traditional Japanese crafts while planning, developing, manufacturing, and selling. We also hold the No.1 (and world-leading) number of Mino Washi brand certifications.

What is “Sarubobo”? ↓

Sarubobo is a traditional folk doll from the Hida Takayama area of Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The word combines “saru” (monkey) and the local dialect “bobo,” meaning baby. Resembling a baby monkey, it has long been handmade by mothers and grandmothers and given to daughters and grandchildren as a lucky charm wishing for safe childbirth, children, good relationships, protection from misfortune, and family harmony. Red is the most common color, but in recent years different colors have also been associated with meanings such as financial luck and health, making Sarubobo a beloved Japanese souvenir as well.

关于“さるぼぼ”▼

“さるぼぼ”是岐阜县飞驒高山地区的传统乡土人偶名称，由“猿（さる）”与当地方言中表示婴儿的“ぼぼ”组合而成。外形像小猿宝宝，自古以来被视为祈愿安产、求子、良缘、驱邪、家庭圆满等的护身符，母亲或祖母会亲手制作并赠与女儿或孙辈。一般以红色最常见，近年也加入“不同颜色代表金运、健康运”等含义，作为旅游纪念品与日本伴手礼同样深受喜爱，也适合面向海外市场的日本杂货进口采购与企业礼品定制。

在建於1760年的江戶時代建築中，美濃和紙手作體驗正式開始！

首先請先坐下來，稍作休息、放鬆一下。

４ 透過紙芝居，開心又好懂地說明體驗♪（第一次也安心）

我們會用易懂的方式介紹石川紙業與美濃和紙、店內看點，以及製作技巧。

現場也有說明書，不用擔心不知道怎麼做^^（工作人員會確實協助與引導！）

５ 開始製作（參考時間：30～45分鐘）

只要用膠水黏貼就能完成，4歲到成人都能開心參與（親子旅行／學校團體也很適合）。

照著材料包的範例圖完成也OK，做成自己的原創風格也OK！

店內的【美濃和紙友禪紙（本公司原創）】也可自由使用，盡情打造世界唯一的作品吧♪

６ 完成！現場即可帶走

12.Mayumi「美濃」日記｜燒焦的咖哩教會我的事。暖爐、咖哩與計時器

最近，在我家廚房最派得上用場的，是煤油暖爐。

一邊取暖，一邊把鍋子放上去燉煮料理。

不用把火開很大，也能慢慢咕嘟咕嘟煮出好味道，這種感覺很舒服，讓我完全著迷。

豬軟骨與沙丁魚整條燉煮、奶油燉菜、關東煮、牛筋味噌燉。交給暖爐的料理，不知不覺變多了。

然而有一天，這份「交給它」做得太過頭了。

我一邊燉咖哩一邊專心工作，結果竟然把鍋子的存在完全忘了。

回過神走進廚房，聞到一股和平常不一樣的味道。

我慌忙掀開鍋蓋，鍋底已經牢牢燒焦了。

「完蛋了……」。我站在那裡發呆了一陣子，這不用說了吧。

從那天起，我一定會請Alexa幫我設定計時器。

暖爐料理可以放著慢煮，但不能完全放著不管。

不管是5分鐘還是10分鐘，只要聲音一響，我就能想起鍋子還在煮。

燒焦的咖哩教會我一個很重要的學習。

計時器響起、打開鍋蓋一看，今天也煮得剛剛好。

在失敗中，逐漸累積屬於自己的做法——這也是生活的樂趣。

我就和暖爐的火焰一起，細細品味這樣的時光。

“We’re coming by coach bus—will we get lost locally?” “Can we do the workshop smoothly even if it’s our first time?”

To ease those concerns, here’s a clear, step-by-step overview of how your visit typically proceeds!

1. Arrive at the municipal parking lot (coach buses welcome)

As we do not have a dedicated private parking lot, we kindly ask guests to use the municipal parking lot.

For groups, if you call us 15 minutes before arrival, our staff can greet you smoothly and guide you in♪

(If any guests feel uneasy about walking, we may be able to provide a short shuttle depending on the situation—please consult us.)

2. A “quick town-walk” intro through the Udatsu-no-Agaru Historic Townscape

Even the walk from the parking area to the workshop becomes part of your Japan travel memory^^

We’ll highlight a few key points about the Edo-era streetscape and the famous “udatsu” features.

3. Arrive at the workshop → guided to your seats

In an Edo-period building built in 1760, your Mino Washi hands-on craft experience begins!

First, take your seat and relax for a moment.

4. A fun picture-story briefing to explain the workshop (easy for first-timers)

We introduce Ishikawa Paper Goods Ltd. and Mino Washi, the highlights of the shop, plus simple tips for making your piece.

You’ll also have an instruction sheet, so you won’t get stuck^^ (And our staff will support you closely!)

5. Start crafting (about 30–45 minutes)

Because you can complete it simply by pasting with glue, it’s enjoyable for a wide range—from age 4 to adults.

You can follow the sample diagram in the kit, or customize it into your own original design!

Feel free to use our in-store [Mino Washi Yuzen paper (our original design)] and create a truly one-of-a-kind souvenir♪

6. Finished! Take it home right away

No long waiting time for drying.

12. Mayumi “Mino” Diary | What burned curry taught me: a stove, curry, and a timer

Recently, the most hardworking item in my kitchen has been a kerosene stove.

While keeping warm, I place a pot on top and simmer dishes.

Even without turning the heat up high, it finishes slowly with a gentle “bubble-bubble” over time—and I’ve become completely hooked on it.

Pork cartilage stew, whole simmered sardines, creamy stew, oden, and beef tendon doteni… before I knew it, my “let the stove do the work” menu kept growing.

But one day, I took that “let it do the work” a little too far.

I was focused on work while simmering curry—and completely forgot the pot existed.

When I suddenly realized and went into the kitchen, the smell was different than usual.

I panicked, lifted the lid… and the bottom of the pot was thoroughly burned.

“I did it…” Needless to say, I stood there frozen for a while.

Since then, I always ask Alexa to set a timer.

Stove cooking can be left alone—but you can’t leave it completely unattended.

Even five minutes or ten minutes—just hearing a sound is enough to remind me about the pot.

A burned curry taught me an important lesson.

When the timer rings and I peek into the pot, it’s simmering perfectly again today.

Making mistakes and adding my own little methods over time—that’s part of the joy of everyday life.

Together with the stove flame, I’m savoring those moments slowly and deeply.
