A word from the staff member in charge ～Yamashita’s “Yama”～
Thank you as always. I’m Yamashita, the newsletter editor.
It’s been warmer than expected lately, hasn’t it?
Last year in Mino, I remember struggling with heavy snow—shoveling snow, cars getting stuck, and even Yamashita getting stuck… it felt like a tough season.
Well, what got stuck melted by the afternoon and somehow worked out, though.
This year, we’ve only had snow once.
No scarf needed, and our dog crawls out from the kotatsu just to enthusiastically (and carefully) lick our faces until they’re completely covered.
Recently, the dog has discovered how delicious sweet potatoes are. Whenever a person moves, it’s like: “Is it potato? You’ve got some, right? Is it you?”—checking everyone’s food. And if anyone is holding even a tiny piece, it tries to seize the chance and bite.
The usual target is my mom, who tends to let her guard down. Scolding doesn’t work—she doesn’t seem scary to the dog.
Hang in there, Mom. I (Yamashita) scolded the dog for you.
To top it off, our studless tires have already become unnecessary. Wow—what a winter that gives you no reason to wear snow tires.
Honestly, it’s warmer than last year, and it doesn’t feel like year-end at all. The only “seasonal” sign is that TV specials are gradually increasing. I’m not watching anymore since the drama I wanted ended, but I’m looking forward to the New Year specials—dramas, anime, and movies. Oh, and Zootopia 2 was great. The fluffy animal textures and gestures were adorable, and I was surprised by how deep the world-building was. Highly recommended.
I still haven’t finished my big year-end cleaning, so I’m going to do my best from here. I hope it stays sunny. I also haven’t finished all the year-end parties, so I’d like to wrap up various things. First—wrapping up this newsletter. Everyone, have a wonderful New Year!
