Ishikawa Shigyo Co., Ltd. was founded in 1902 (Meiji 35) in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture—Japan’s renowned production area for Mino Washi. Through our philosophy of “Handcraft by a Washi Maker,” we manufacture, wholesale, and distribute Mino Washi paper goods. By bringing entertainment into traditional Japanese craftsmanship, we plan, develop, produce, and sell original products for global B2B buyers (importers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers). A meaningful business meeting between Mino hand-made washi artisans and processing companies

New product development using Mino hand-made washi has started!

Our company participates in the “Mino Washi Brand Value Enhancement Study Group” as one of the representative processing companies.

Mino Washi is broadly divided into three fields: Hon-Mino-shi, Mino hand-made washi, and Mino machine-made washi.

Hon-Mino-shi and Mino hand-made washi are produced by artisans using a method called “nagashi-suki,” with each artisan actively working from their own studio.

On the other hand, there is a background challenge: it is difficult for the artisans themselves to devote sufficient time to sales and marketing.

For this meeting, it was organized mainly by the Gifu Prefecture Regional Industry Division, the Mino City Mino Washi Promotion Division, and the Mino Washi no Sato Hall. We sincerely appreciate the support from the Gifu Prefectural Government and Mino City Government for promoting the Mino Washi industry.

On the day, artisans and processing companies gathered together and held a networking session where each company met 1-to-1 in timed rounds to share information about their businesses and market needs.

Companies develop every day, and market information continues to evolve. Meeting the distinctive hand-made washi of each artisan in real time with our planning and product development capabilities made this an extremely meaningful exchange.

The Mino hand-made washi created by the artisans is truly captivating. As a result of this exchange, we quickly decided to move forward with joint product creation.

We plan to develop accessories such as brooches and earrings using each studio’s Mino hand-made washi, as well as Japanese stationery items like magnets and bookmarks, and begin sales from spring—ideal for premium Japanese gift assortments for importers and specialty retailers.

什么是川越祭…▼

川越祭（正式名称为“川越冰川祭的山车行事”）是，

每年10月第三个周六、周日在埼玉县川越市“小江户”仓造街景中举办的传统且充满动感的节庆活动，是日本文化体验与观光伴手礼需求都很高的人气祭典。

2005年被指定为日本国家重要无形民俗文化财，2016年作为联合国教科文组织非物质文化遗产“山・鉾・屋台行事”之一登记在册。

川越祭登场的山车上，会摆放以历史、神话、传说人物为原型的“机关人偶”。其中有一辆山车以“牛若丸（源义经）”为主题。
