Original Product Case Studies

A traditional craft from the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture has been turned into a roly-poly doll!!

Traditional craft × roly-poly doll
“Roly-Poly Doll Sarubobo”!!!

What is Sarubobo…

Sarubobo is a good-luck doll shaped like a monkey, made in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture in Japan.
In the local Hida dialect, “saru” means monkey and “bobo” means baby, so the name comes from its resemblance to a baby monkey.
It is said that mothers originally hand-made Sarubobo dolls while praying for their daughters’ and grandchildren’s healthy growth, good marriage, safe childbirth, and happy families.
Today, Sarubobo is widely known as a popular Japanese souvenir for visitors from around the world.
