Ishikawa Shigyo’s World & Japan Conquest Project! Put a sticker on your hometown ^^

━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━

“Mino Washi” is a cultural pride of Mino City and a craft recognized by UNESCO.

Founded 123 years ago, Ishikawa Shigyo hopes people around the world will learn about and enjoy the traditions and beauty of Mino washi—

With that in mind, we launched a special interactive project!

Its name is…

“Did YOU come to Ishikawa Shigyo for washi?” Campaign!

Ishikawa Shigyo is located right in the heart of the historic Udatsu-no-Agaru Streets of Mino City!

Our store is a designated property within Japan’s Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, featuring an “udatsu” built in 1760.

Step inside our renovated Edo-period townhouse and be welcomed by our team.

Inside, we display a world map and a map of Japan—please place a sticker on your place of origin when you visit.

As the stickers increase, it’s easy to see how far the Mino washi experience at Ishikawa Shigyo has spread.

Watching the map fill up with color excites both staff and visitors alike.

◆ World Conquest Project ◆

To date, guests from 41 countries (individuals and groups) have visited us!

But there are 193 UN member states—our journey continues.

For guests visiting from a country for the first time…

・We’ll give you a Mino washi souvenir!

・Please place a sticker on your hometown ^^

Which country will color the map next? Tell our staff where you’re from!

◆ Japan Conquest Project ◆

Among visitors who enjoyed our Mino washi craft shop experience,

which of Japan’s 47 prefectures has sent the most guests?

Nearby? Or from far away?

Place a sticker on your prefecture and add color to the Japan map!

* The stickers our guests have applied are now piling up like a little mountain ^^

The more stickers, the stronger the connection between Ishikawa Shigyo and our guests—

it’s a participatory project for everyone.

If you haven’t visited yet, please stop by.

Mayu “Mino” Diary — A Small Bottle, Big Peace of Mind: Applause for Expo Bag Checks!

━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━

I couldn’t forget how fun the Expo was when I went in May, so recently I visited again with my family.

A string of little miracles lined up this time—

we got into the most popular U.S. Pavilion,

won the lottery for the water show, and more—pure excitement.

—That story can wait. Today I want to write about a moment that impressed me during the pre-entry bag check.

The entrance gates were packed.

In my lane I could clearly see the inspection machine ahead and the neighboring lane from where I stood.

One staffer receiving bags, another staring at the monitor,

another returning items, and a lead coordinating the flow—

seven people total moving briskly in sync.

A couple next to me whispered,

“This job is really tough.

If something happened with luggage inside, they’d be responsible.”

I found myself nodding.

The monitor specialist was like an interpreter for X-rays, saying,

“There’s something metallic around here—please check,”

and, “That shape is a key holder, so it’s fine.”

Shadows that looked like “mysterious blobs” to a layperson like me

were judged instantly, preventing trouble before it happened.

Ah, so that’s how safety is protected,

I was thinking—when it happened.

“Excuse me—do you have a bottle in your bag?”

The person they stopped was… me.

A bottle? What do they mean… oh, right!

The energy drink I’d tossed in my backpack “for when I get tired.”

“Yes—there’s one energy drink…”

“I’m sorry, but bottles and cans are prohibited inside.

We can hold it here for you, or if you’d like, you can drink it now.”

Now!? First thing in the morning—right here!?

In the end, I downed it before entering.

I was a little embarrassed, but I take my hat off to the professional eyes that didn’t miss even that tiny bottle.

By stopping one small item, they protect a big sense of security.

To everyone who keeps us safe—thank you so much.
