Hello, this is Yamashita, your newsletter editor.
Last week was Obon—did you spend it meaningfully?
I went out to various places—splurged at Yoro Meat, watched fireworks, and even started dating.
By the way, Seki’s fireworks often get canceled due to heavy rain. Some years even the backup date was scrapped. This year it was cloudy and windy, so I was nervous—but it went ahead, and I felt relieved. The Nagara River fireworks are famous, but Seki’s fireworks are my favorite.
Honestly, it’s close to home and both setup and clean-up are quick—hard to beat.
And watching fireworks explode right overhead while hearing the crowd’s “Ooh!” each time—that’s true summer atmosphere.
Also—I’m a woman who can wear kimono. Fireworks night is the perfect, legit time to wear a yukata and (quietly) observe how others dress. I happily wore mine. This year I aimed to dress even more beautifully and added a Suzuro Belt Wide and a Korin Belt. If you wear kimono or yukata, I highly recommend them. The Suzuro Belt is amazing—the wider size keeps my bust neatly in place, and because there’s no tying, it’s comfortable. Paired with the Korin Belt, the ohashori looks immaculate. I’ll have more chances to wear yukata and can’t wait to show friends. Goal: “Everyone in yukata!” See you!
