A Note from Our Team — Yamashita’s Corner
Hello! This is Yamashita, your newsletter editor.
One of my hobbies is diorama crafting — I’ve been into it since childhood.
I’ve always loved detailed, hands-on activities.
When playing with dolls as a child, I would build entire dollhouses out of cardboard — sometimes even miniature nations!
Apparently, my creativity was evident even in elementary school.
Now I craft tiny Japanese gardens or steampunk-style houses inside trays or boxes using materials from 100-yen shops.
I’m amazed that my hobby hasn’t changed much since childhood!
...Though surely the quality has improved!
Most parts are handmade using wooden stir sticks, clay, and DIY tools — creating miniature furniture, vases, books, and more.
I especially enjoy making mossy stone walls, ponds, and flooring.
My rule: "If I can’t find it at the 100-yen shop, I’ll make it myself!"
