A brief note from the person in charge — “Yamashita’s Mountain”

Thank you for your continued support. I’m Yamashita, the newsletter editor.

Happy New Year! How have you all been?
I was a bit down because my New Year omikuji result was “suekichi” (small blessing), but…

I spent too much money at the end of the year, so I ended up staying home on my days off.


The biggest splurge at year-end was a 2.5D musical.

I happened to see in the newspaper that Misonoza was staging a production based on SPY×FAMILY, so I decided to go. Do you know the manga SPY×FAMILY? It’s very popular right now—and it even had a movie before.

That story has cute characters, but the historical setting is heavy. It’s a time where spies exist, and torture and executions are “normal,” and war still exists—so adults can’t ignore it.
And the author seems to like writing heavy stories (probably). I’m guessing it will get more and more intense from here.

Back to the point—Misonoza is, as expected, luxurious. You can eat and drink inside, so concessions are great. I was surprised the seats even had cushions. Above all, the stage set rotates. Since I used to do theater, I assumed it was manual, but…

No—the floor rotates. And in three different sections.

And there were an unbelievable number of lights. Plus, because they packed so many SPY×FAMILY episodes into the show, the number of costume changes was incredible.
Where did they store all those costumes? How do they change that fast? I enjoyed it from start to finish without getting bored.

They have to move the production to Tokyo and Osaka too, so just imagining it feels exhausting. If there’s another show in Nagoya, I’d love to see it.
This year, I’d like to see at least one more. Everyone, please go see a stage show too!
