When visiting one of our client shops here in Mino City, we saw them sprinkling water to cool the storefront.

As the owner went back to draw more water—surprise!—the water source was a hand pump.

I’d seen a hand pump at my parents’ home before, but that old well was no longer in use. Watching real water gush out from a working pump was a delightful shock!

The owner smiled and said, “We use it every day—nothing unusual for us,” looking perfectly cool ^^

In Mino City, you can feel traditional charm in everyday moments like this—perfect for travelers seeking authentic local culture and historical townscapes.

We hosted an overseas group! They made “Washi Korokoro: Oda Nobunaga.”

━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…

The other day, we welcomed a group of 30 guests from Taiwan to our shop in Mino City,

and they enjoyed our bestselling **“Washi Korokoro: Oda Nobunaga”** activity—an engaging hands‑on cultural workshop for group travel.

Oda Nobunaga is a charismatic warlord of the Sengoku era who aimed to unify Japan. Known as a trailblazer, he broke old conventions and quickly adopted firearms and Western culture.

His stronghold was right here in Mino.

With the slogan “Tenka Fubu” (Rule the realm by force), he boldly led efforts to unify the country.

“Washi Korokoro” are cute, palm‑sized round dolls.

This series pairs these adorable figures with samurai warlords.

Besides Oda Nobunaga, the lineup includes Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kichō, and Otani Yoshitsugu—seven designs in total.

This time, everyone eagerly crafted the Sengoku hero, Oda Nobunaga.

Choose your washi, add the face, apply armor‑patterned paper, raise the banner…

Step‑by‑step handmade fun kept the excitement going for everyone!

Some guests even swapped the standard blue armor paper in the kit for their favorite washi patterns ^^

When the crafts were finished,

we saw colorful Nobunaga figures in pink, yellow, green, and more—some with cute helmets! Your creativity blew us away.

“It’s adorable, but the sharp eyes feel so Nobunaga!”

“I’m taking this back to Taiwan to display!”—so many smiles and such a joyful time.

The contrast between Nobunaga’s commanding gaze and the doll’s round form is irresistible.

Everyone took home a “sharp × cute” Washi Korokoro as a memorable Japan travel souvenir.

We warmly welcome overseas visitors—

our workshops frequently host international guests. Tour planners, DMCs, and travel agencies from Europe and North America are invited to contact us for group bookings, private sessions, and coach‑friendly schedules.

Time to handcraft your own one‑of‑a‑kind piece while exploring Japanese history and culture is loved by travelers from around the world—perfect for Japan cultural experiences, group tours, and team‑building workshops.

Why not handcraft Sengoku‑period samurai warlord figures yourself—an engaging samurai craft workshop in Japan?

Ishikawa Paper Goods offers retail of washi crafts and related items, hands‑on experiences, and even original product development.

◆ JAXA’s SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) becomes a roly‑poly doll!

Our Washi Korokoro are good‑luck “fall down seven times, stand up eight” figures that pop back upright.

We were commissioned to express SLIM’s lunar landing as a roly‑poly—bringing a space exploration moment into a charming washi craft ^^

By realizing SLIM, humanity shifts from “landing where it’s easy” to “landing where we want,” a qualitative leap in lunar landings.

Future solar‑system exploration will require higher‑performance instruments. To make room for them, spacecraft must be lighter—lightweight systems are essential.

SLIM aims to achieve pinpoint landing technology and a compact, lightweight spacecraft system, contributing to future lunar and planetary exploration.

Introducing our hometown, Mino City! Cool down the summer heat—Uchimizu (Water-Splash) Big Operation!

━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…

In midsummer Mino City, the sun beats down.

On such a hot day, a lively water-splash event took place in the historic Udatsu-lined streets!

We heard the event was offering free yukata dressing for participants, so I joined with my daughter^^

My daughter wore an adorable yukata with refreshing light blue and pink flowers—light blue (yukata) × pink (obi)!

I chose a chic, striking design that’s hard to come by—navy (yukata) × a yellow obi with a black lining!

And, as it turned out, my combination was identical to the woman I thought was the most elegant among the models!

What!? Well then… I’ll happily play the supporting role to highlight her beauty (^^;

We also had about 20 participants, including yukata-clad high school girls, energetic elementary school children, and their moms!

All the models smiled in colorful yukata,

cheerfully splashing water with buckets—so cute that the photographers were thrilled!!

Shutter clicks echoed through scenery like a movie scene in Mino’s old townscape.

Looking closely at one girl,

a glint by her ear—the “Washi Earrings” from our company.

Yes! She wore earrings you can make at our Mino Washi Craft Experience Shop^^

Mino Washi’s gentle texture pairs perfectly with a yukata!

They’re light and comfortable—the subtle sway looks great, too.

We heard: “Wait, these are made of paper!?” “They’re too cute!”

They drew attention as summer fashion items that blend tradition with kawaii style—perfect for cultural trips to Japan.

You can make Mino Washi earrings in the hands-on workshop at the Mino Washi Craft Experience Shop, Ishikawa Paper Goods.
